Donate, Donate, Donate

We have been cleaning house this weekend in hopes of clearing clutter, packing away seasonal items, storing outgrown baby clothes, and making piles for donation. If you are also able to do the same, I thought I might make a list of options for your to help those in need right now.

Donate to those affected by Sandy:

Find details for hyper-local NYC locations on TheBabyGuyNYC’s Facebook Page.

Find 15 Companies Helping Sandy Victims on the Huffington Post.

Donate to local moms in need: Find moms through a local moms group, a church you belong to, Craigslist, Freecycle, or a local women’s shelter to donate goods, services, or time.

Locally in Virginia, HomeAid Northern Virginia Women Giving Back, Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter, Artemis House

Donate, donate, donate! #Give500 Things Challenge: In coordination with the above efforts, join Joyful Abode‘s challenge to give 500 items away to those that can use them. We are going to try and achieve this goal by the end of the year. As of this weekend, we have easily gathered over 150 items to donate to Sandy victims and a local mom who will be adopting newborn twins in the next couple of weeks. How exciting for her family!

It’s amazing how fast we could sort through what we use and do not use–we encourage you to do the same!
